Our History

Privately owned and headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, Jeffrey R. Anderson Real Estate, Inc. is a reflection of its Founder, CEO, and President, Jeffrey R. Anderson.

In the early ’70s, Jeff focused his career on site selection for various clients in the restaurant industry including Wendy’s, McDonald’s, Taco Bell, Long John Silvers, and many others.

Having developed a reputation within the restaurant community as an outstanding site selection specialist, Jeff took his talents to Chi Chi’s Restaurants in 1976. After executing several successful sale/leaseback transactions, Jeff was named Director of Real Estate for Chi Chi’s Restaurants in 1978. For his contribution to the company’s growth, and as the franchiser of Chi Chi’s Restaurants along the U.S. Eastern Seaboard, Jeff and his investment group earned a 20% interest in Chi Chi’s public stock. After selling his Chi Chi’s interest back to the company in 1985, Jeff left to focus his efforts on building his own company.

Jeffrey R. Anderson

CEO/President

Jeffrey R. Anderson is the Founder, CEO and President of Jeffrey R. Anderson Real Estate, Inc., a privately-owned, Cincinnati, Ohio-based developer of fashion and entertainment based Lifestyle Centers, Mixed-use developments, traditional grocery-anchored retail centers, and Class ‘A’ office buildings. Prior to establishing the Company in 1975, Jeff studied Communications at the University of Virginia, graduating with a B.A. in 1969. After playing professional football with the NFL’s Washington Redskins, he returned to Cincinnati to pursue a career in the real estate industry.

One of Jeff’s initial clients was Wendy’s Restaurants’ founder Dave Thomas, which quickly drew the attention of the owners of Chi-Chi’s Mexican Restaurants. After successfully opening 55 locations for Chi-Chi’s, Jeff was quickly promoted to Vice President of Real Estate and was awarded Chi-Chi’s franchise rights for seven states along the eastern seaboard. Jeff’s site-selection expertise fueled a desire to build his own company. After an initial focus on development of Neighborhood Centers and Power Centers in Greater Cincinnati, Jeff began developing Mixed-use and Lifestyle Centers throughout the country.

In addition to large-scale projects, Jeff maintains interest in the restaurant industry as a developer and owner of various dining concepts throughout the U.S. His entrepreneurial success has been repeatedly recognized within the industry and community garnering several prominent awards including consecutive wins for the Tri-State’s Fastest Growing Privately Held Companies and Cincinnati’s 100 Largest Private Companies. In 2002, Jeff won Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year for the Midwest Region.

Today, he resides in Kenwood with his wife. He enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, playing golf, traveling, and engaging in philanthropic activities with organizations including the National Geographic Society, University of Virginia, Waterkeepers Alliance, and the Freestore Foodbank.

J.R. Anderson

Vice President

J.R. Anderson is Vice President of Development for Jeffrey R. Anderson Real Estate, Inc. He oversees all aspects of tenant representation, anchor tenant leasing, site selection, development and project management. J.R. began his career in New York City at Bear Stearns & Co., Inc. handling mergers and acquisitions for insurance and lending institutions. Born and raised in Cincinnati, Anderson attended St. Xavier High School and the University of Virginia where he graduated in 1994 with a B.S. in Finance and a minor in Japanese Language. In addition to his real estate activities, J.R. is also on the Board of Directors for other Anderson-owned entities including Universal Robotics in Nashville, Tennessee.

Ryan Garlitz

CFO

Ryan Garlitz oversees the day-to-day financial operations and corporate accounting systems of Jeffrey R. Anderson Real Estate, Inc. including financial reporting, cash flow management, risk management, development of annual budgets and financial projections, accounts payable, corporate compliance and tax reporting. Ryan joined the Company in 2002, and has been a tremendous asset in managing the rapid growth of Jeffrey R. Anderson Real Estate, Inc. Ryan is a 1990 graduate of Bowling Green State University with a B.S. in Accounting.

Tracy Schwegmann

Director, Property Management

Tracy Schwegmann joined the Anderson team in 2001 and directs all corporate marketing activities and handles third-party property management assignments. Responsible for planning, directing and implementing all aspects of the strategic marketing activities involving the Company’s portfolio of retail properties, Tracy handles budget development, openings, event management, tenant relations, public relations and ongoing marketing programs. Additionally, she also handles property management assignments for third-party Corporate clients.

Tracy received her B.A. in Journalism at Northern Kentucky University and her M.B.A. at Xavier University. Since 2022, she has served as a Sycamore Township Trustee. A former president of the NKU Alumni Board of Directors, she currently serves on the NKU Foundation Board of Directors.

Anders Anderson

Managing Director, Strategic Investments

Anders Anderson is Managing Director of Strategic Investments for Jeffrey R. Anderson Real Estate, Inc. He is responsible for evaluating and identifying new investment opportunities, which strengthen and diversify the existing portfolio of the Company. Anders oversees cross-sector development efforts by fostering and executing strategic initiatives including acquisitions, partnerships, and minority investments in leading and innovative companies across all sectors, including hospitality and energy.

Anders graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.S. in Sports Medicine before obtaining a Master’s Degree at the University of Florida in Exercise Biochemistry. In 2002, he moved to Hollywood where he produced and directed several films. This diverse background has given Anders unique insights into a multitude of scientific and artistic industries. In 2011, Anders and his wife, Surfer, returned to his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Emily Bevis

VP of Leasing

With over 20 years of experience, Emily oversees the leasing efforts of many high profile projects including Crestview Hills Town Center (KY), The Square (KY) Rookwood Exchange (OH), Ag47(OH), and Chesterfield Town Center (MI).

Emily has also assisted such prestigious clients as Pottery Barn, West Elm, Shake Shack and Honor Yoga as a tenant representative in the Cincinnati region. Skilled at leasing projects as an outside/third-party provider, Emily has successfully leased projects for RPT Realty, Inc., Casto Inc., JP Morgan, Carter USA, Nicol Investments and Towne Properties. Notable successes include placing Cincinnati’s first and only REI, Buy Buy Baby, Ruth’s Chris, Yard House and Nordstrom Rack, as well as the area’s only urban Amazon and Target Express. Emily was recently awarded the YWCA Rising Star by the YWCA Academy of Career Women of Achievement and is an active member of ICSC, Cincinnati Area Board of Realtors.

Mike Scavo

Corporate Director of Hotel Operations

Mike oversees the hotel operations activities for Jeffrey R. Anderson Real Estate. Prior to joining Anderson, Mike has experience in multiple hotel brands including Marriott, Hilton, IHG and Boutique Full-service hotels. He brings a vast array of experience from previous positions that enhances the culture of the Company.

Mike brings more than 25 years of invaluable operational leadership experience to Anderson Real Estate. Since attending The Ohio State University, Mike has demonstrated a career record of consistently leading top-brand hotels and Food and Beverage operations, to exceptional performance through focus on quality and top-line revenue to drive profitability, market penetration, brand development, and associate and guest satisfaction.

Mindy Heizer

SR. Property Management Director

Mindy Heizer directs the property management team for the three Rookwood properties in Cincinnati, specifically managing maintenance staff, tenant relations, vendor negotiations and monthly reporting. Before joining the Company in 1998, she majored in Business at Wright State University and began working with McNeil Real Estate where she was responsible for the management of four centers in three states. She has been a licensed realtor since 1985 and is currently a member of B.O.M.A. International (Builders, Owners and Managers Association) and C.R.E.W. Network (Commercial Real Estate Women).

Tony Cook

Senior Construction Manager

Tony Cook oversees a variety of construction-related activities for Jeffrey R. Anderson Real Estate, Inc. including input into planning and design of new developments, construction oversight of new projects, and coordination of individual tenant build-outs. Tony’s excellent work as a consultant for one of the Company’s new developments led to his joining the team as a staff member in 2005. He holds a B. S. in Construction Management & Technology from Eastern Kentucky University. Upon graduation in 1995, his construction expertise deepened through nationwide assignments with Cleveland Construction, Keene Construction and Matthew Development. Currently, Tony enjoys spending time coaching both of his boys in baseball and lacrosse.

Angela Lacy

Senior Asset Manager

Angie handles property management activities for Anderson’s Cincinnati portfolio of Residential, Office and Retail projects. Prior to joining Anderson Real Estate, Angie had successful career experiences with Marquette Management, CMC Properties and Capital Investment Group.

As an experienced real estate professional, Angie creates and teaches Real Estate Continuing Education and Career Education/Certification classes. Angie is a tri-state native, having attended the University of Cincinnati and currently resides in the eastern suburbs of Cincinnati where she is an active volunteer in the school system and youth athletic programs.

Kadi Anderson

Director of Design

Kadi Anderson is the Director of Design at Jeffrey R. Anderson Real Estate, a role she has held since 2016. In this capacity, she leads the design vision for a variety of projects, overseeing the selection, purchase, and installation of furniture and lighting. Kadi ensures that every design element aligns with the overall project aesthetic while maintaining functionality and quality. She manages relationships with suppliers and works closely with architects, project managers, and clients to execute seamless installations. With a Bachelor of Science from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia, Kadi combines her business acumen and design expertise to deliver projects that are both innovative and practical. Her attention to detail and strong organizational skills have made her a trusted leader in transforming spaces into thoughtfully designed environments.

Steve Schooler

Director of Construction

Steve Schooler is responsible for zoning approvals, construction, and coordination of inspections for the Company’s developments. He also oversees general contractors, architects, and engineers throughout construction and operational phases. Steve first focused on the fundamentals of construction at the University of Cincinnati and received his B.A. in Construction Management in 1986. Assignments prior to joining the Company included the construction of over 50 hotels for Columbia Sussex including Marriott, Radisson, Crown Plaza, Westin, and Holiday Inn properties in diverse locales including Detroit, St. Louis, Lake Tahoe and Grand Cayman. Steve joined the Company in 2000, adding his exceptional repertoire of construction experience and expertise to the Anderson team. Since joining the Company, he has managed the construction of nine Lifestyle Centers averaging in value from $60-140 million dollars. He has also coordinated the build-outs of more than 750 national and local tenants in these developments. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family and coaching Youth Lacrosse.

Casey Abney

Development Manager

Casey oversees pre construction activities for new retail projects. His responsibilities include identifying development sites for preferred tenants and managing daily project operations by collaborating with engineers, architects, attorneys, brokers, and planning staff . Casey is a proud UC graduate of the Lindner College of Business Real Estate Program, and holds an Ohio Real Estate Salesperson license. Outside of work, he enjoys golfing with family and friends, exploring the mountains on hiking trips, and has completed multiple marathons as well as a 50-mile ultramarathon.

Angela Meyers

 Controller, Restaurant division

Angela Meyers operates the accounting departments for three Company-owned restaurant concepts totaling 15 locations nationwide. She received her B.A. in Accounting from University of Cincinnati in 1994, and worked with James Messmer & Associates post-graduation. Two years later, she joined Jeffrey R. Anderson Real Estate, Inc. 

During her decades of work with Jeffrey R. Anderson real estate, she has been recognized repeatedly with Cost Reduction Achievement awards.

Christine Berger

Property Manager, Crestview Town Center

Christine has been part of the JRA team since Crestview Hills Town Center’s 2005 opening. She continues to manage the day-to-day operations of the Town Center along with tenant and vendor relations, as well as marketing directives and events.

Following a move from her native New York where she managed stores for major bookstore retailers in the NY/NJ region, Christine has called Northern Kentucky home since 2002.  She received her B.A. in English Literature from Oakland University.

Caleb Anderson

Director of Brand

Caleb oversees strategic marketing initiatives as the Director of Marketing for Jeffrey R. Anderson Real Estate, Inc., where he leads a diverse portfolio encompassing luxury properties, well-known restaurant groups, and coffee franchises. With expertise in digital marketing, content creation, and brand strategy, Caleb drives high-impact campaigns that engage audiences across social media, email, and web channels. 
 
His work involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to align marketing efforts with overarching business objectives, maintaining a strategic focus on maximizing ROI and resonating with target audiences. A graduate of Furman University with a BA in Economics and a Master’s in Professional Communication from the University of Tampa, Caleb combines analytical acumen with practical marketing skills. Outside of work, Caleb is an avid surfer.
